BIOGRAPHY

2020_12_17 - Lairig Ghru 2, UK.jpg

I'm Marco Squillace, experimental musician and modern landscapist.
My passion for wilderness and remote sceneries is the main drive of my fine-art photography projects. The one and only subject and inspiring muse is nature: pristine, Romantically sublime, uncorrupted.

Consequently in recent years my travels, hikes and camping trips have all been focused on capturing the raw and profound aesthetic experience of being immersed in nature's harshest beauty.

Through the use of vintage lenses and creative editing I depict these landscapes under a dreamy and almost mystical light, aiming to give picturesque features to my digital images.

In late 2018 I started experimenting with film photography with an old Pentax P30, learning about exposure and composition.

During 2020 I studied digital photography theory, and only after that I started shooting with my Fujifilm X-T20 and a pair of adapted vintage prime lenses (1980 Tokina 28mm f/2.8, 1989 Pentax 50mm f/2.0).
Afterwards I also added a wide-angle prime lens (Samyang 12mm f/2.0) and a couple of vintage telephoto prime lenses (1981 Sigma 135mm f/3.5, 1985 Pentax 135mm f/3.5, 1983 Pentax 200mm f/4.0) to my kit.
